Blanket and Pillow Bundle

Blanket and Pillow Bundle

Some projects are meant to live together. A striped throw over the arm of the sofa, a textured pillow cover in one of the same colors, and suddenly the room looks planned. That is what this bundle is for: two living-room patterns that share a yarn palette, with the baby blanket pattern added in as a free bonus for the next gift you need.

If you like to knit and crochet in sets, this is the easiest one I know. You pick cream, rose and sage once, buy the yarn for both, and the blanket and pillow come out matching without any color-matching stress.

What is inside

Three printable PDFs in US terms, each with row-by-row instructions and stitch counts:

  • Striped Throw Blanket in lap (36 x 48 inch) and throw (50 x 60 inch) sizes. Half double crochet, a 12-row stripe repeat in three colors and a two-round border.
  • Textured Pillow Cover, 18 inch. Basketweave in front post and back post double crochet with an envelope back, so there is no zipper.
  • Bonus: Moss Stitch Baby Blanket. The free pattern, with the how-to-read-a-pattern guide, for the next baby shower on your calendar.

Three samples from the patterns

  • The throw's stripe plan. 4 rows rose, 2 rows cream, 4 rows sage, 2 rows cream. Ten repeats make the 120 rows of the lap blanket.
  • The pillow's block counts. 62 chains, 60 double crochets, 15 blocks of 4 in every row, 33 rows for the front.
  • The shared border color. Sage frames the stripes on the blanket and picks up the sage blocks on the pillow, so the pair looks like a set.

Plan your yarn

Both patterns use medium (#4) worsted weight yarn. The lap blanket needs about 300 yards of each of three colors, the throw about 500 yards of each, and the pillow cover about 450 yards of one color. If you want the set in the same three colors, make the pillow in cream or sage and the border of the blanket in the other. Buy a spare skein of the border color.

The two patterns use hooks that are only half a millimeter apart (6.0 mm and 5.5 mm), so you can keep both in your project bag and switch between them. The pillow is the quick one, an evening or two. The blanket is the long one, the sort of project you work on through a whole season of shows.

Why a bundle

Bought separately, the two paid patterns are $9.98. As a bundle they are $8.99, and the baby blanket is free either way. No ads, no hunting through a blog for the gauge, and all three files are yours to keep and print.
